Oscar Wilde once said, “The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself …”
From The Picture of Dorian Gray.
As many of you will know, I have over the past year been running some joint events with personal jeweller and jewellery historian Adrian Dickens. Adrian and I have given talks on Debo Mitford, Duchess of Devonshire, and her Jewels, and also on Dame Edith Sitwell and her Jewels. Later this year we are planning a new talk on ‘Fabulous Fictional Jewels’ – I’ll talk about novels in which gems play a major part, and Adrian will illustrate them and tell us more detail about the background of fictional pieces such as ‘the Eustace Diamonds’ from Trollope’s novel, or Marilla’s amethyst brooch from Anne of Green Gables.
I have also asked Adrian to slightly remodel and repair some of my own jewellery and am thrilled with the result. I had a cameo brooch which I rarely wore, but Adrian made a slight change so it can now also be worn as a necklace which makes it so much more versatile. He has also repaired some earrings which I love but which were unwearable, and made changes to a few other favourite pieces. At our talks he displays gorgeous pieces which are oh, so tempting.
Commencing on 16th June and running for two weeks, Adrian has a “make me an offer” promotion on many of his gorgeous pieces. Browse his online catalogue and, if there’s something you fall for, just make him an offer through his website. Don’t forget to mention that you heard about the sale from me. The promotion runs from 16th June through to 30th June. Visit https://circaadjewels.com/.
He is also starting to send out a newsletter, to which I hope occasionally to contribute, so you can sign up for that on his website too.
Don’t let your soul grow sick with longing while you have the opportunity to sample Adrian’s beautiful jewellery at a price you can name for yourself.
