Literary Readers Guides for 2019

Come with me on a literary journey through 12 wonderful books. Together we will explore a fabulous selection of 19th and 20th C classics.

Included are twelve reading guides covering the life of an author and one of their most popular or important works. In each I reveal intriguing stories about the author behind the book, analyse the themes and characters in the book, tempt you with film versions to watch, and challenge you with thoughtful discussion questions. Every beautifully presented guide is about 24 pages in length with full colour images. As a bonus it comes with an online Companion Guide listing carefully curated links to further reading, videos and extended material about the author and the book.

The books I discuss are:
Evelyn Waugh and Brideshead Revisited
Jane Austen and Emma
Jerome K. Jerome and Three Men in a Boat
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and The Hound of the Baskervilles
Theodor Fontane and Effi Briest
Guy de Maupassant and The Necklace
L.P. Hartley and The Go-Between
Samuel Butler and The Way of All Flesh
W. Somerset Maugham and Cakes and Ale
Henry James and Washington Square
Jean Rhys and Wide Sargasso Sea
Wilkie Collins and The Moonstone

    Susannah,

You have breathed new life into the year to come. How exciting! I am off to Japan tomorrow week for a two=week tour. Back on 1st December. I was dreading that post-holiday slump but now I can look forward with relish to the year to come. Thank you darling Susannah.

Guy de Maupassant was possibly the greatest short story writer of all time. I have also enjoyed his novels.

Darling Susannah, what a gorgeous selection of books! I am off to Japan next week on a two-week tour and was rather dreading the post-holiday slump. However, a new year with each of these captivating books, has taken that negativity away.

Will be back on 1st December and will post off my application then.

    With love,

    Jenny x

  3. I want to read about literature and also I need to know if children’s literature is available. Actually, I started reading when I was a child, I was fond of reading children’s stories. Now, I have children, I want them to have such an oppurtunity.
