SYDNEY: The Brontës and Animals

The Brontes and Animals

8 November 2025

SYDNEY: The Brontës and Animals10:30 am - 12:00 pmDetails of the lives of Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë at Haworth Parsonage in 19th-century Yorkshire, England, are well-known. Animals were part of daily life in the windswept parsonage where they grew up. The sisters’ novels, too, feature striking animal presences—from faithful dogs and restless horses, to birds and beasts. In this talk, Susannah explores how the Brontës’ animals shaped their imaginations and gave texture to their stories. This talk is at The Australian Brontë Association. There is a meeting charge of $5 (members) and $10 (non-members). Bookings recommended, contact the society at ausbronte@gmail.com. SYDNEY: CASTLEREAGH BOUTIQUE HOTEL MapMore details »
