The Author, the Book and the Movie
Is the movie ever as good as the book? How do you compare a 2-hour film, with a more extended TV adaptation of a beloved novel? Do the works of some authors film much better than others?
In this new mini-series of lectures via Zoom I will discuss three new film or TV adaptations of popular novels, books that have all been filmed before. Learn about the author, discover more about the influence of the novel, see images from a great variety of past TV and movie productions, and receive a ‘further reading’ list after the talk.
I’ve planned a mini-series of talks, via Zoom, about these three authors, books and movies. I’d love you to join me.
I’d love you to join me. The talks are all planned for late Sunday afternoons (Sydney time) in October, so you can pour yourself a nice glass of wine, or a cup of tea, sit back, relax before dinner, and learn about 3 fascinating writers, 3 classic novels and 3 recent or coming film adaptations.
The Johnston Collection
I am presenting a series of lectures for the fabulous Johnston Collection in Melbourne. All are via Zoom, so anyone can enjoy them, even international readers (advertised times are AEST, Sydney, Melbourne).

I do hope you’ll enjoy these new talks. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment.

What a treat Susannah to listen to and watch two of your talks in one day – firstly Victorian authors and then the Bronte sisters. Both have inspired me to go back and revisit some lovely old favourites.
Thank you

Thanks so much for your kind comments, Rosemary. Do you receive my newsletter, ‘Notes from a Book Addict’? It will keep you posted re other zoom talks I am giving.
Enjoy your re-reading.
