Exploring More Literary Landscapes of England
In Sept / Oct next year I will be leading my other English tour – Exploring More Literary Landscapes of England. I have not done this tour for many years and am excited about leading it again. It takes you to the West Country to see places associated with Agatha Christie, Betjeman, Poldark, and Daphne du Maurier country, there are some glorious days in the Cotswolds (the Mitfords, Laurie Lee, William Morris and T.S. Islands of Singular Charm: A Literary, Historical and Cultural tour of New Zealand
In November of next year I’ll also be taking people to fabulous New Zealand (by the way, did you know that the Kiwi accent has recently been declared the world’s sexiest accent?). This tour, from 9 – 24 Nov, will include Katherine Mansfield, Janet Frame, Eleanor Catton, Ngaio Marsh, places connected with Tolkien films and even a place with a Jane Austen connection. There will be a cruise on spectacular Milford Sound, a very special stay at a luxurious wilderness lodge, a performance by a poet beside a lake, and the viewing of some extraordinary collections in libraries. A Gorgeous New Tour in Switzerland
And I’m having great fun at the moment planning a gorgeous new tour in Switzerland. Would you like to visit the land of Heidi, see where Sherlock Holmes fell to his death at the Reichenbach Falls, explore Byron’s Castle of Chillon, visit the homes of Rousseau, Voltaire and Germaine de Stael, and see where Hotel du Lac was set? There’ll be a spectacular train trip through the Swiss mountains where so many writers went for their health (Thomas Mann’s The Magic Mountain is set there), some superb art galleries, and chocolate, cuckoo clocks and amazing scenery thrown in for good measure.
