HAPPY BIRTHDAY – Maurice Sendak, born 10 June 1928

“And now”, cried Max, “Let the wild rumpus start!”

Maurice Sendak is best known for his Where the Wild Things Are which was published in 1963. As a kid, I found it rather scary, and I didn’t like Max the hero much.

Sendak did write other books, such as In the Night Kitchen and Outside Over There, which I have not read. One day you might like to look for them and read them. He seems to be one of those authors who is a ‘one book’ writer, at least by reputation.

Sendak died a few years ago, in 2012.
