On Saturday 30 November I will be celebrating L.M. Montgomery’s 150th birthday with a Zoom party and you, as a Gold Class member, are cordially invited to attend as my free guest.
I hope you share my love of her novels, but, even if you don’t know her books well, it’s not a problem. You will still enjoy the event and come to know more about Montgomery’s life and impact, recieve a reading list, and hear from my sister and friends as to their favourites amongst her many books. Did you know that there are several volumes of Anne’s adventures?
Which novel did my sister pinch from me? And which of her books did I read in a romantic haze the night before my wedding? What is happening on Prince Edward Island to celebrate this literary milestone?
Come and find out more at this free (for you) Zoom party. Pour yourself a glass of raspberry cordial (or wine), tuck into a delicious cake, and join the fun. And if you do badly in the trivia quiz, only you will know! You will receive the zoom link a day or two before the event.
Here’s the program for the event:
3.00pm :: Welcome
3.05pm :: The Life of L.M. Montgomery presented by Susannah
3.45pm :: Distinguished L.M. Montgomery scholar Sarah Emsley presents a report on the celebrations in Canada
3.55pm :: My Favourite L.M. Montgomery novel presented by:

4.20pm :: Break for a raspberry cordial (or beverage of your choice) while you complete an online jigsaw puzzle

4.50pm :: Recommended further reading presented by Susannah
Montgomery’s books have hugely enriched my life, and so of course I want to mark this anniversary with a party on the actual day of her birthday, Saturday 30 November, from 3-5pm.
It’s to be an online party, so I can share the pleasure with Anne fans far and near.
The event will include my illustrated talk on Montgomery’s sad life, travelling in her footsteps, and discussing her writings. I’ll have some fun quiz questions and an online jigsaw to complete. Scholar, Sarah Emsley will join us via Prince Edward Island to report on celebrations in Canada, and various “Anne-friends” will each briefly discuss their own favourites of her works (some of the choices might surprise you).
We’ll record the event, so if you can’t join in on the day, or the time doesn’t work for you, then you can still watch and celebrate this important literary anniversary whenever you like.
