My Special Dad

My special dad

This month my very special Dad turns 90 and I’d like to celebrate that important event in my newsletter. He has always been a most supportive reader of my monthly epistle, he has signed up many of his friends and relations, he has given me ideas for articles, and has always been so proud of my literary achievements.

Dad read to me when I was young, has given me books, we share a taste for good detective fiction, and he has always been a keen reader. I am so proud of him – this year he has been a world champion tennis player in the 90 – 95-year age group and he travels the world playing tennis. We’ll be having some fabulous parties and family reunions to celebrate this milestone.

Happy birthday to the most wonderful of fathers. I may not have converted him to the glories of Jane Austen, but in all other respects he is simply the best of Dads!

Oh Susannah, what a special dad you have! Phenomenal – I almost feel the energy through my screen.
A person I am particularly proud of is my mom. I did not succeed either in trying to make her love Jane Austen, but we both love reading and physical exercise. She is 73 and belongs to a walking/rambling group and cycling club. They often travel in Germany to cycle unknown routes. She is as fit as a fiddle and I pray she passed those genes on to me. She couldn’t make me more proud if she tried.
    I love your newsletters 🥰

So glad you love my newsletters, Diana. Both our parents are setting us wonderful examples of fitness and energy! Walking and cycling are fabulous ways to see Europe. I am planning a walking tour in Slovenia with sisters and friends in 2 years’ time.
      Thanks for your comments.

Your dad, the lovely Ashley, used to play tennis with my partner Joe Moodabe for many years, and at one Christmas party we talked books and he told me all about his lovely daughter and sent me your email to sign up. Happy birthday Ash 🥰

Thanks, Di, I will pass on your good wishes to him. That tour seems a very long time ago.
