Celebrating a Purr-fectly Successful Book Launch

A talk at The Johnston Collection, Melbourne

I am absolutely thrilled to share that my new book, Great Writers & the Cats Who Owned Them, was officially published (by the prestigious Bodleian Library) on 15th October—and what an exciting journey it’s been so far! The response has been overwhelming in the best possible way. I’ve had the privilege of presenting my book at events in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, where I’ve shared the book’s delightful stories of some of history’s greatest authors and their feline companions. Each event has been wonderfully well-attended, and I’ve loved engaging with so many fellow literature and cat lovers. Thank you to everyone who has joined me so far! Have a look at some photos here.

It’s incredibly heartwarming to see that the book has been received so positively. It has attracted great coverage in newspapers, media outlets in Australia and elsewhere, including The Sydney Morning Herald, Brisbane Times, The Australian, InDaily, UK DailyMail, ABC Radio, regional newspapers, radio, and many more. Not only that, the reviews on Goodreads have been glowing, with readers expressing enthusiasm for its blend of literary history and cat lore. It’s such a joy to know that Great Writers & the Cats Who Owned Them is striking a chord with readers and critics alike.

If you’ve already picked up a copy, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support means the world to me! If you’ve had a chance to read it, I’d be so grateful if you could leave a review on Goodreads or share your thoughts in places where books are talked about. And of course, don’t forget to tell your fellow book lovers and cat aficionados about it, too. With Christmas just around the corner, it’s the perfect present for anyone who loves a good story about furry companions.

I’m so proud that the book is published by Bodleian Library Publishing, a name synonymous with literary excellence, and I feel very fortunate to be part of their distinguished catalogue.

You can buy my book through good bookshops. If you would like a signed copy, you can order via my website, and I’ll post one off to you. Sadly, postage to the UK and USA is so horrific that if you’re there, it’s best to buy from a local bookshop, but I can email you a signed bookplate that you can stick in the front of the book.

There’s still more to come—more talks are planned in Sydney, and I can’t wait to share my stories of the writers and their feline companions with even more of you. Stay tuned for updates, and I look forward to seeing you at an event soon!

International orders

Unfortunately, postage from Australia is expensive and will increase the amount you pay if you order directly from me. So, if this is an issue for you, my book is already listed with international retailers, which may reduce the postage you pay. You could try looking here:

UK: Bodleian Library Bookshop
USA: University of Chicago Press
Intl: Amazon.com

You won’t be able to request a personal inscription for these orders, but I have designed a free bookplate you may like to download to place in it. Have a look here.

Don’t forget my companion items: my Purr-fectly Literary Tea Towel and my Meow-vellous Greeting Card. All three items are in my online shop now.
